Birds, Birds, and Birdies I saw one it came to a bush to rest. But then I saw two and even two more came I thought to rest. But my mind was foggy as I saw them jumping. Jumping here and there jumping jumping from limb to limb. These birds cannot be resting making such a commotion. Jumping is not resting. They were pecking at something. Pecking and pecking just eating and eating. But what, what were they eating? The birds had come a dozen or more not for resting but pecking. Pecking something. Eating something I did not know. Eating and eating something unknown. Eating something my mind did not know. Inquisitive minds have to ask and ask I did. “Birds, what are you eating?” I asked aloud. Musing to myself no answer came. But then in chorus it came and the birds replied. “It’s manna, morning and night.” Not frightened but amazed. Amazed at the chorus but not the reply. I knew God fed the birds. But the chorus in reply? How? Why? Again came the chorus questioning. If God feeds the birds, won’t you be fed? By Larry E. Whittington 4/6/2021 After seeing the birds on two separate occasions on successive days, most of these words came to my mind. Then this poem came easily and quickly to me as I sat down at the computer. It needed only minor changes and correction.
Look in the archives for a Poem called; "Your Chair." It was written after Carol, my wife, passed away on November 2, 2023
Birds are fun to watch ... I have been known to have bird feeders periodically, just to see who comes to eat and to observe another wonder of God's creation. Thanks for sharing!
