Carol’s Last School Speech
I copied this from her written notes. Larry E. Whittington
Thank you all for the opportunity to say a final CCS good-bye to you all.
I have so enjoyed watching you all grow up..some from PreK, 1st, or whatever...God has brought you all to an incredible point in your life.
I think one of the things you probably remember me for are my “stories” of life long gone by...you know I lived some of the things that are now called “history”!
When I go to a “museum” I do not say, “I wonder how that was used” or “wow, did people really live without TV or running water or inside potties”??? I say, “I remember that”!
I was able to give you many life stories of how it was to live during really hard times in America. Living in the Midwest, and a small town kid, I was able to share with you real incidences that we now teach as “history.”
I remember talking to you about the life choices you make everyday. You may be young, but you do make choices, either good or bad, every minute of every day. Since you are not adults, you make kid choices that are usually all about you.
While you are traveling along this journey of life, God tells us throughout his word to pay attention to what He says… listen closely to his words… to not let them out of our sight, to keep them within your heart.
Do you wonder why I had you memorize so much in sixth grade??? This is the reason, Cod commands us to write his word on our hearts. You have so much of God’s word written in your hearts. These are words you will never forget.
Are you always going to make the best choices? NO!!!
Lets say you owned this little sports car… one day you took it out into the country and you were just driving along and your eye catches a dirt road...Wow, it would be so much fun to take that road, you crank the wheel and head down that dirt road...many of those rolling bumps are in this road...it has recently rained and, yes, there is a big mud hole, how much fun it would be to hit that..so you do.. in you cute little sports car,,, the bottom of the car is hitting the road...mud is splashing everywhere...the alignment is now gone..rocks have hit the windshield and the sides of the car...and since it was not made to drive on roads like this you lose control and hit a tree...and now you are barely able to climb out of that cute little damaged sports car.
Now you know that car was not designed to go 4wheeling...it was designed to drive on paved roads with the top down, waving at all your friends…
That is the way it is with us...we are not designed to go down roads not prepared for us… when we choose those roads, we get damaged also…
God designed us to follow him…
When you choose the wrong road, you will be damaged…
keep your eyes on Jesus...remember it is not all about you...it is all about Jesus.
