After my wife passed away on November 2, 2023, my daughter brought me a kitten. These thoughts came to me this morning, May 10, 2024, before it was time to get up. I took the pencil and paper, by my bedside, and wrote this before I got up. I Know He Is Mine. My daughter, my daughter, She brought to me a little cat. Just a kitten, so little to hold In my hands, to hold, So close but still carefully hold. He is mine now and he says I am yours With his tail he wraps around my feet. He knows the blanket is his resting place. A place to “mix bread” with his front two paws, A place to curl up and lay and purr and sleep. Till I say to him. "I need to get up." “I need to get up.” He awakes. Slowly he awakes, he stretches and he yawns. He slowly crawls away Wanting to stay. My bed is his bed. Now it is not mine, lonely and alone. My bed, he knows. is his bed also. So now, it is our bed when the night falls. Larry E. Whittington May 10, 2024

So glad you and the kitten have each other. If we humans could decipher his purrs, he is probably saying "The man is mine ".
