It Would Be Nice
I seem not to wish
(I know not why)
It was you I did love.
It would be nice.
I have talked with some
(I know not why.)
And have thought of love.
It would be nice.
I have wondered at times
(I know not why)
Just when I would find mine.
It would be nice.
I started talking to you
(I know not why.)
It was the other day or so.
It would be nice.
First I did not think
(I know not why.)
You were one I could love.
It would be nice.
But now, - I know not why -
I seem to wish
It was you I would love.
It would be nice.
This was copied from a yellow, unlined paper. On the front written in ink were these words. During the 3rd week in the month of May 1961. I believe it was June 30, 1961 Carol and I were Married.
Larry E. Whittington I added this information when I put this poem on Facebook. I found out something about Carol I never knew until last month as I was getting ready to move to our youngest son's home. I found a copy of Roy Cross's funeral service. Roy was Carol's first husband. She has chosen the same preacher to marry us and she chose to conduct his funeral. I didn't know what to think about that information. God bless everyone who reads this.
