Let Me Run Again: Just This Once. Let me run again, just this once Without falling to my knees. My Mother would coax me. Let me try again, just this once Came my tearful reply. Now, no Mother to watch me as I try Let me run again, just this once. Without skinned knee Or bleeding hand. I can’t ask for this just once more Let me run again, just this once Without falling to my knees. My walk is wobbly as slowly I go. Do I now hear my Mother still Coaxing me clear. Try this for me, just this once. Just one more step, or maybe two.
8/15/2023 Larry E. Whittington I wrote this after I ran (tried to run) to help a truck driver back in the Crossroad’s Food Bank. I haven’t been able to run since.
Interesting thought ... as the reality of an aging body creates so many limitations. Thanks for sharing!
