Life and Living
Part Thirty-Six
I am still involved in, or with, that hobby or activity I was introduced to in about 1965. When I was ready to cut a customer’s thunder egg, I would ask God to help me put the thunder egg in the saw so that the best view of the inside would stand out. I wanted my customers to have a thunder egg that they would marvel at and thank God for what he had made for them. That saw wore out, so now I am just polishing small pieces of petrified wood, jasper, or agate. I pray that the person who finally gets that piece will also thank God for a piece of his making and praise His love for us in providing all that He gives us to use and enjoy.
I may be weird in my talks with God, but many times, especially in the spring, I will ask God if He sees this especially pretty tree or the flowers. I know that He does because he has made all things for his enjoyment, but I ask Him anyway to let Him know that I also notice them and thank Him for them.
Another thing that might seem weird to others is that I will be working in the yard doing something and then asking God what I should be doing next. I wonder, “Am I the only weird one for doing that?” It may be that I am only talking to myself, but one thing I notice is that when I do ask God what to do next, it always seems to have been the right choice at the right time.
Prayer doesn't always have to be the few minutes at bedtime that God is brought to my mind, but that is Life and Living for me.
