Life and Living
Part Forty-Three
Look how these verses use the phrase “above all.” Can you imagine the pleasure God had in having his servants write these words about the Israelite nation?
Deuteronomy 10:15 Yet the Lord set his affection on your ancestors and loved them, and he chose you, their descendants, above all the nations—as it is today.
Deuteronomy 26:19 He has declared that he will set you in praise, fame and honor high above all the nations he has made and that you will be a people holy to the Lord your God, as he promised.
Deuteronomy 28:1 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth.
John 3:31 The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all.
1 Chronicles 16:25 For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.
Nehemiah 9:5 And the Levites—Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah and Pethahiah—said: “Stand up and praise the Lord your God, who is from everlasting to everlasting.” “Blessed be your glorious name, and may it be exalted above all blessing and praise.
Psalm 95:3 For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods.
Psalm 96:4 For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.
Psalm 97:9 For you, Lord, are the Most High over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods.
And speaking of Jesus, we have this reference: Ephesians 1:21 far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
Is the God of creation and His Son Jesus ABOVE ALL in our lives?
If not, why not?
