THE STORMS OF LIFE
Who can relate to a blocked-up drain pipe? Have you ever had one? I might ask, "Who hasn't?"
Recently, I encountered another STORM OF LIFE—a blocked drain—and immediately, my mind began to turn. It was not thinking, though, of calm, peaceful thoughts. I was starting to think of all the unknown troubles, the hassle, the problems—the cost. And where would the money come from?
l am very thankful that I did not get to dwell in this direction for very long. My wife, I love her and may God bless her, asked just a very short —-to-the-point question. She asked something like this. “Are you going to let this get to you?” "Where is your faith in God?”
(Insert for thought and comfort) This is posted in honor of my wife of 62 years. After about two years of painful heart problems, she passed away on November 2, 2023.
“Where is your trust in God seeing you through the situation?”
Oh, I needed that. "Where is your faith?"
This is the same question that Jesus had to ask his disciples when they were together on the lake once. A storm of life came down on them, causing them to have troubled minds. In fear, they woke Jesus up and declared, "Master, Master, we're going to drown!"
Oh, what fear we can have even when Jesus is in the boat with us! Even when he is right beside us—in our STORM OF LIFE—when the drain pipe gets clogged, do we forget where he is?
Our fear of the unknown comes because we don't know it, don't have the answer, and need help finding our way out. We say there can't be an easy answer, and maybe there isn't an easy answer, but Jesus is there.
JESUS IS STILL HERE – WHERE WE ARE! He knows what is happening.
Jesus is the Creator of the universe. He put all things together. God knows what holds all things together. He knows the answer and what he will do even though we can't say. So take heart—don't be afraid.
Looking back on our past STORMS OF LIFE, we will not think they were such a big deal. We will see how Jesus worked through it all anyway—in his way, in his time. PRAISE GOD!
Sometimes, the solution comes quickly, and sometimes, it comes a little later, but when it does, there is joy, peace, and a sweet calmness.
Now, here is the question: With the God of creation as our God and the Savior of the world as our Savior, why can't we have the measure of faith that will give us calmness and assurance that all is well?
Let Jesus wake up in your life of storms. Let Him rebuke the wind and the raging waters of your storms so that the storms of fear and worry subside and all will calm.
Oh, Jesus, the calmer downer of the raging storms on the Sea of Galilee, you be the calmer downer of the raging storms in our lives.
