Words Can Keep Us from Worshiping God
We all use words and phrases that can keep us from worshiping God! This may come as a surprise to most of us because we all use these words and probably don't even consider we are kept from worshiping or praising God.
Some Bible verse to consider in relation to these thoughts follow.
Mark 8:38 "If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels."
Matt. 12:33-37 (NKJV) A Tree Known by Its Fruit
33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. 34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”
Follow these thoughts and examine yourself to see if it isn't true. Then let us all determine to work at finding and putting away all words that keep us from worshiping God. We must worship God with all the intensity and fullness that he deserves.
The first word I want to focus on is the word "LUCKY". It is a common word of the world. If we would check ourselves honestly, we might find that we use the word frequently. The one problem with using this common word, though, is that it does not reflect any thanksgiving to God or to his working in our life. It does not give any credit to God for his blessings, his help, or his working things out in our lives.
We are not worshiping God when he does not get any credit.
Being LUCKY is just an accidental circumstance. Something occurred to you that just happened for no good reason. God was not behind it or caused it to happen in any way. It was not a blessing from God.
Also the phrase "I hope I get Lucky" does not show any recognition of God being the one from whom all blessing come. It shows only "chance". It also does not indicate a dependence on God. It shows a dependence only on chance. Remember: showing recognition to God and a dependence on God is one aspect of our Worship to God. If we don't recognize God as the source of all we have and if we don't show that we depend on God, we are not worshiping and serving him.
Using words and phrases that don't bring God into our lives will keep God out of our lives.
If God is more out of our lives than he is in our lives, we show ourselves either as a very weak (almost faithless) child of God or one without a good foundation of knowledge of our relation to God.
We are weak by not recognizing and using God's power.
We are faithless in not demonstrating God's power in our lives.
We show ignorance of God's love for us as provider of our needs when we don't recognize the source of all we have.
We show others we are just depending on "chance" and not upon God when we use words that don't reflect God's intervention in our lives.
If our words do not show God's care and concern for us, we are not being a witness of God's power to bless in our lives. In fact, we are not using God's power to bless in our lives.
If we are just being "LUCKY", we haven't given God any recognition of blessing or control in our lives. We have not given him any thanksgiving or praise.
Let us think about our words and what they show.
May our speech portray us as one who knows God and seeks his BLESSING and not just someone who trusts in "LUCK".

I enjoyed your thoughtful consideration for our words ... which often reflect the condition of our hearts in relation to the Father; the giver of all things. Thanks for sharing!
I'm glad you are pointing this out. I fully agree. I stopped casually telling people "Good luck". I think we need to think about the words coming out of our mouth and if it reflects who we really are and how we want to present ourselves as Christians.
